John Damberg Latin Jazz Quartet-2022
Cordova Arts and Pageants of Cordova, AK presents the John Damberg Latin Jazz Quartet in a community concert from 7:00-9:00 p.m.on March 1, 2024 at the North Star Theater located at 601 First St. Cordova, AK . The concert will feature new original music of noted Alaska composers/performers, and educators John Damberg and Mark Manners featured on their recent CDs Happy Dance (2023) and Change in Time (2022). Their musical compositions, influenced by American Jazz and the Latin music of Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad, Mexico and Puerto Rico, will take you on a delightful musical journey through America and down to the Caribbean Islands and the countries of Latin and South America.
The Ensemble’s tight, swinging arrangements highlight the musical artistry Alaska Master percussionist John Damberg on marimba, vibes and steel drum, blended wit Mark Manners beautiful inspired melodies on guitar. Adding heat to the band’s Musical Salsa is the ever Hot groove of the band’s rhythm section, which includes Bob Andrews on bass and Eiden Pospisil on drum set and Latin percussion. Cordova guest performers will include Caleb Horney on guitar, Thomas Nothstein on piano, and the Cordova High School Jazz Band.
